BOARD: Choose the board size that is best for you. For wing foilers with good fitness plus strong prior board, foil skills and quick on their feet, we recommend around 20-30L above your body weight in litres of volume on the board. For older or less agile people, 30-40L is more than your body weight (in kg). EG 60kg = 90-100L board / 90kg 120-130L board. The full carbon boards come with a custom Armstrong Carry Bag.
About the S1 Foil Kit:
Armstrong Alloy System
The Armstrong Alloy System was designed to enable riders of all skill levels to chase endless experiences on the water. Its modularity, broad performance range and exceptional build quality empowers riders of all levels to progress without limits.
Modularity is core to the Alloy System design. It’s fully compatible with all our front foils and stabilisers so as riders’ style evolves, so can their setup. Building on the knowledge and technology that led to our industry-leading carbon Performance Mast, the AA mast shape and structure are optimised from top to bottom for an excellent balance of efficiency and strength. This approach to design and attention to detail is exemplified in the Alloy System’s specially machined mast top and SailGP-inspired bottom bracket that are crafted from aerospace-grade aluminium alloys.
The system is outfitted exclusively with premium titanium and surgical stainless hardware for a light and highly corrosion resistant setup that’s durable over time. Industry-leading manufacturing tolerances make for a high performance, beautiful fit and finish overall.
Details:
Hexagonal fuselage shape is inherently strong, stiff and modular for an easy front foil swap.
The mast section is 17.5mm thick; efficient through the water, yet strong to withstand the loads of advanced riding.
Aircraft-grade 6061 and 7075 alloys for excellent strength to weight ratio.
Titanium and stainless hardware save having to disassemble frequently so it’s easy to use and maintain with excellent corrosion resistance. Screws are custom-made M7 and M8 x 1.25.
Tech Specs:
- 85cm (33.5”), 72cm (28.5”), 58cm (22.5”) mast lengths
- 75cm, 65cm fuselage lengths
Armstrong Step 1 Foils
Redefining how we learn to foil, the Step 1 (S1) foil range delivers remarkable stability, ultra low flying speed and an instantly intuitive feel to make the first step into foiling as accessible and forgiving as possible.
Pitch, roll and yaw stability are critical to success when building foiling skills. The S1 design achieves a near autopilot-like level of predictability thanks to a combination of leading and trailing edge sweep, chord length and foil section geometry. The result is an ultra easy platform for first time flyers to learn any foiling discipline.
The S1 foils fly at a remarkably low speed with a high degree of controllability so that riders can practise manoeuvres with less risk and a lower learning curve. When overpowered, the foil reduces breaching with a tendency to fly itself back down when approaching the surface. Because these foils handle speed and ventilation so well, riders can enjoy an exceptionally broad usable speed range in each size. Downturned wingtips provide an extra element of safety.
Built to the same tolerances as our other foils, the S1 range is constructed from carbon composites which provide an excellent strength to weight ratio.
Details:
An ultra easy platform for first time flyers to learn any foiling discipline. Excellent low speed lift, stability and recovery from ventilation.
Leading and trailing edge sweep for stability and a narrower span to minimise breaching.
Downturned wing tips increase rider safety and improve the efficiency of water flow.
Proprietary Armstrong A+ System foil connection design offers industry-leading stiffness, durability and modularity.
The S1 300 stabiliser was designed alongside the S1 foils to provide riders with the best learning platform possible.
Tech Specs:
- 1250cm2: Span 848mm, Aspect Ratio 5.7
- 1550cm2: Span 905mm, Aspect Ratio 5.3
- 1850cm2: Span 965mm, Aspect Ratio 5.0
- 2450cm2: Span 1054mm, Aspect Ratio 4.8
- 300cm2 stabiliser: Span 410mm, Aspect Ratio 5.7
About The Armstrong Foils Forward Geometry Wing SUP Board
Armstrong's new and innovative “Forward Geometry” Wing SUP Board design highlights the drive and passion they have to always be improving and maximizing the potential of every ride. The logic behind Forward Geometry is all about the mast track position in relation to the center of the board. The further forward the mast can go the better, it improves maneuverability, response and dramatically reduces the rotational swing weight effect. Combine this with state-of-the-art 320mm Carbon fiber A+System Mast Tracks and you have maximum potential to get your board and foils geometry working for you.
Without question, shorter boards offer superior maneuverability, feel and control once on the fly but getting them there is not so easy. Until now that is, as boards get shorter it becomes important to maximize stability and hull speed when still attached to the water. The new Forward Geometry shapes from Armstrong have addressed this issue with a beautiful innovative approach enabling everyone to take advantage of the benefits of riding shorter boards.
From beginner to hero, the FG boards deliver a level of speed, stability and unrivaled handling performance that transcends what’s available today. Bold claims you might think, but Armstrong guarantee that you will feel and understand the difference once you ride one.
This Board is Ideal For - SUP foiling and winging
Board Construction
- Forward geometry: The new A+System Mast Tracks are positioned well forward in the board to reduce rotational swing weight which radically improves handling and response
- High-strength carbon fibre A+System mast tracks: Plastic simply does not do the job well enough, so Armstrong designed their own 320mm Carbon Fiber mast tracks
- Recessed deck: This brings you closer to the mast top for direct handling and feel
- Through-deck carry handle: Easy to carry top or bottom, the through-board handle is also the water evacuation for the recessed deck
- Extended waterline profile view: Speed is the key, so the boards' waterline is used to help accelerate the board forward
- Chisel-Nose Outline: Offers stability on the water and helps push the water under the board rather than splitting it around the board.
- Innovative tail shape: For better acceleration, less drag at the rear waterline release area, it looks faster because it is
- Accentuated chines: As the board picks up speed and the foil starts to lift, the contact area reduces, making for a smooth transition from on the water to foiling and also seamless touchdowns as the board does not grab as it touches the water’s surface
- Stable volume-distribution: The recessed deck, wide Chisel nose and relatively rectangular outline means the volume is pushed to the extremities, makes for a stable platform when on the water
- Light and strong: Lightweight is nothing without strength so Armstrong have chosen the best materials to keep the boards both light and strong. Foam core with multiple PVC reinforcements, Dual Carbon stingers, covered with Carbon fiber and Dyneema cloth
